RESCUE AND MONITORING
Aquila has rescued three rare, potentially doomed leopards on different occasions, caught in farmers' traps. Aquila has, at great expense, enabled medication, rehabilitation and release of these leopards back into the wild, where possible.
We monitor the leopard activity on the reserve using several high-tech veld cameras which have a video, photo and e-mail and sms capability. We have recently ordered a R500 000, remote, live streaming and recording video system that will send two full time camera feeds to televisions in Aquila’s lounge, restaurant and bar areas. All footage and monitoring records have been offered free to the Cape Leopard Trust.
